I LOVE spring weddings in Florida, especially when they take place at beautiful venues like the Ancient Spanish Monastery. The incredible gardens and architecture at the monastery is like a photographer’s fun house. With no ceilings are walls to bounce off my light during the reception, I had to dip into my photojournalistic tricks of slow shutter speeds and really play around with the light when the gardens got dark. You can get some really neat photos this way. Carlos and Amy were AWESOME! The couple contemplated moving their wedding to Colombia, but then decided to bring a little bit of Colombia to their wedding. One custom in particular was the blue cartons of Aguardiente that were passed around to guests along with shell necklaces. Guests poured the alcoholic drink into the shell, and took a shot off their neck, or their partner’s neck. It was very entertaining to photographs. The couple and their guests spent the whole night on the dance floor dancing to sounds of club mix by DJ Edgar Gonzalez. The party was insane, and only appropriate for this very fun and lovable couple.
